Frequently asked questions.

Direct answers on cohort governance, Barcelona meeting cadences, retreat inclusions and confidentiality.

Have a specific question?

The Round BCN1 is a confidential, year-round executive peer advisory board facilitated by Dr. Sven Mulfinger and operated by Kuma Partners. The cohort meets in person once every month in the Barcelona area for a dedicated half-day working session. The annual cadence comprises 10 monthly Board sessions, one 24-Hour Immersion overnight retreat and one 3- to 4-day Executive Offsite & Sanctuary in nature, alongside monthly 55-minute 1:1 strategic sparring sessions.

Membership is curated strictly for active Founders, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Managing Directors who carry ultimate P&L and strategic responsibility for scaling or established enterprises. Every cohort is strictly capped at 8 to 12 members to ensure psychological safety, intimacy and high-density deliberations.

Direct competitors are never admitted to the same cohort. Before any candidate is admitted, existing members review their company profile and sector to raise potential conflicts. We operate under strict Chatham House confidentiality: what is shared in the room never leaves the room, extending to members' boards, co-founders and personal lives.

Traditional networks rely on open-enrolment chapters, volunteer chairs and rigid round-robin presentations. The Round is an operator-led intervention engine backed by the Kuma Operating System (KOS), deploying adaptive protocols, from silent deliberation to root-cause telemetry, with commitments tracked in a binding digital ledger.

Sessions are held once a month in the Barcelona area. Members take turns hosting the cohort at their respective corporate headquarters or private offices. Hosting at each other's offices provides tangible operational context that sharpens peer feedback. The host provides a private, secure meeting room with breakfast and lunch.

The Round incorporates two annual retreats that replace the monthly Board session during those cycles: a 24-Hour Immersion (one night, one full day) and the Annual Executive Offsite & Sanctuary (3 to 4 days secluded in nature). Full programmatic architecture and operator facilitation are included in the membership fee. Direct travel, accommodation and meal expenses are covered individually by each member at cost.

Human presence and authentic interpersonal trust take priority. Sessions are never recorded, and AI note-taking bots are prohibited in the room. While Kuma Partners and members may use AI models for anonymised pre-session context preparation or strategic synthesis, all input data is strictly anonymised with names, companies and identifiers removed. Data stored in the Member Accountability Ledger is deleted within 30 days of membership termination.

Peer collaborations, joint ventures, advisory relationships and commercial pilots are permitted, provided there is complete transparency. Members must disclose bilateral collaborations to the facilitator so the cohort understands shared interests. Unsolicited pitching, service selling, fundraising or employee poaching inside the cohort is strictly prohibited.

Membership is a single 12-month seat, invoiced in two semi-annual instalments in advance. The full fee schedule is disclosed during the initial candidate review once mutual strategic fit and non-compete boundaries are confirmed. An onboarding fee of €1,000 covers pre-session diagnostic framing and is waived for Founding Members joining Barcelona 01. Cancellations require written notice at least 30 days before the membership year renews.

Caliber and psychological safety rely on consistent attendance. Members commit to attending every monthly Board session and retreat on time for the full duration. If an executive misses more than three sessions in a calendar year, a formal review is conducted with the facilitator to evaluate cohort continuity.
